Timing Is Everything

Timing Is Everything by www.chelceytate.com

Have you ever stopped to think about what your life would be like if you started doing what you loved to do much earlier in life?  I think we've all been there ... At least I know that I was definitely in that state of mind over the weekend.  I started to ask myself ... What if I had stuck with the blog that I started four years ago when Sean and I had moved into our first apartment together?  What if I had realized that my print shop side gig was so much more than just a hobby?

This is the conclusion I came to with Sean as I was making all of these thoughts known out loud in the middle of our lunch date ... If I had stuck with it, started sooner, or realized that my hobby could be so much more, I definitely wouldn't be where I am today.  Heck, I would probably be stuck in a sales job that I hated because I never would have realized the potential my creative ventures held.

Had I started working towards my current dreams full time at that point in my life, I wouldn't have this space that I have now.  I wouldn't have pursued my original goal of going into sales and marketing in the hospitality industry, and I definitely wouldn't have received half of the training on how to run a business or how to market a product or service that I have over the last 4 years.  I can tell you right now that there's no way I would have gained the knowledge necessary to allow myself to grow my blog and business as quickly as I have if it hadn't been for that "in-between" time.

Ok, let's think about some things.  Think about where you've been that has gotten you to this point.  What dreams have failed in order for you to realize your full potential?  To realize what you're actually supposed to be doing with your life?  Finding something that you're passionate about, and turning it into a way to support yourself or your family, is the kind of stuff that makes me giddy with excitement for both of us!  It's a beautiful thing when a job and passion come together!  Honestly, I think it's something that every single person in the world should experience in their lifetime.  Whether you're passionate about blogging, photography, graphic design, being a parent, business finance (more power to ya because that stuff bores me to tears!) or anything else that I may have failed to mention ...

So, the next time that you're sitting there kicking yourself for not starting sooner, start playing the what if game and backtrack a bit.  I promise you'll come to the conclusion that everything happens right when it's supposed to.  No matter how you look at it, all of those other places you've been have brought you to where you are today.  Timing is truly everything.
