Is it 75 degrees outside everywhere right now in the middle of December, or is it just Louisville? I have to say, the warm weather isn't bothering me one bit, but it is making it difficult to get into the Christmas spirit! It's so crazy the little things that go into making it "feel" like Christmas. In my mind, it's chilly weather, snow on the ground, apple cinnamon candles and lots of red!
It’s definitely not a secret around here that I tend to lean towards neutrals with just about everything, but there’s something fun about wearing a pop of red during the holidays! Since I went pretty bold with the dress, it was obvious to me that a natural look was the way to go when it came to doing my make-up. I’m not the biggest beauty guru in the world (or at all, really), but finding products that look natural, and ones that are healthy for my skin, is pretty much my specialty. Want to recreate this simple look for yourself? Here’s how I did it!
FIND THE PERFECT RED HOLIDAY DRESS
This one was an easy one for me. My mom just happened to buy herself a red dress, and decided that she didn't love how it fit ... That's where I come in! I have a feeling that this babydoll style dress is going to quickly become one of my favorite pieces this winter! This one is from Urban Outfitters.
THROW ON SOME PATTERNED TIGHTS
Up until a couple of years ago, I never really bothered with dresses in the winter, or tights for that matter. It's so fun to see how a pair of patterned tights add so much detail to an otherwise simple outfit! These are from, funny enough, New York & Co.!
APPLY YOUR FAVORITE MOISTURIZER
I have to tell ya, blogging has really broadened my horizons when it comes to beauty and skin care. I never really washed my face, used moisturizer, or even removed my make-up before bed (it's awful, I know) until a couple of years ago when I started this space! My go-to moisturizer now is Celestial from LUSH. I'm all about the all natural products!
USE A PEACHY TONED BLUSH ON THE APPLES OF YOUR CHEEKS
Orgasm from NARS is always my first choice. It really is true what they all say (and by all I mean all of the awesome beauty bloggers of the world) ... It really is the perfect tone for ALL skin tones.
APPLY NEUTROGENA HEALTHY VOLUME MASCARA
Seriously, this stuff ROCKS. 400% fuller lashes AND it moisturizes them at the same time? Sign me up! It might honestly be my new favorite mascara, and I've been using the beyond expensive stuff from department stores for years. Yeah, it's really that good.
USE YOUR FAVE NEUTROGENA MOISTURESMOOTH COLOR STICK
For this look, I used a mixture of the Plum Perfect and Soft Raspberry, and honestly, my lips have never felt softer! Not to mention this stuff pretty much smells like you’re back in the 4th grade using watermelon flavored chapstick, which is the highest of compliments in my book! Anyone else get super nostalgic when it comes to scents?
